Begun in 1995, the Community/University Consortium for Regional Environmental Justice (CUCREJ) is a consortium of 9 low-income and minority community-based environmental justice organizations and 3 research universities. The consortium maintains a two-fold mission:

• to create and provide a general information and research infastructure for environmental justice organizations in the region; and
• to annually focus consortium research resources on a shared environmental issue at the local, regional or national level.
