    1. Select an appropriate search tool.
      • consider your information need and use an appropriate search tool
      • know the differences between different search tools: directory services, indexers, and parallel search engines.

  2. How do you search library databases?
    1. Select an appropriate database.
      • know the differences between different library databases: periodical indexes, corporate reports, statistical databases, and full-text e-journals.
      • use Business Databases to lead you to the primary databases for business and economics research.
    2. Learn search strategies.

  3. Do some look-ups
    1. Identify trade associations or organizations in your industry. Use at least one Internet directory service, one indexer, and one parallel search engine.
    2. Visit at least one association web site. What kinds of information about your industry are displayed on this site?
    3. Go to ABI/Inform. Construct a search using the Boolean "and" to find background information on your industry and its products.
