This web site gives access to all the print and electronic holdings purchased by the Rutgers University Libraries, plus resource lists and pathfinders constructed by information professionals across the system. You need to obtain a barcode and a PIN number from a circulation desk in order to borrow or request any materials from the Rutgers system.
Print Resources
IRIS, the online catalog of the Rutgers University Libraries, gives students and faculty ready access to what we own -- over 3 million print volumes in 22 libraries across the state, plus multimedia and many full-text electronic journals. You may limit searches to DANA or use the or buttons to intralibrary loan books or articles from other Rutgers libraries. Here are some example of useful searches:
leadership and women -- (This is a keyword search; use the "Contains" button.)
mass media political aspects -- (This search will retrieve books by Library of Congress subject heading.)
Mosley, Walter -- (This search will retrieve books written by Walter Mosley.)

Periodicals
- Click on Indexes and Databases. Click on Academic Search Premier (Ebscohost).
- This multidisciplinary database indexes periodicals in many different fields and on many different levels, from general interest to scholarly. Students find it a handy place to begin searches because it is partly full text and because it covers so many different subjects. However, you might find that you need something more. Rutgers offers you more than 150 periodical indexes and databases in many subject areas. Don't stop here if you need additional information.
- Click on Indexes and Databases. Click on ABI / INFORM GLOBAL.
- ABI / INFORM contains articles from newspapers, magazines and journals on nonprofit/charitable organizations as well as businesses and corporations.
Rutgers Newspaper Resources
- Go to the Libraries homepage. Choose Research Resources and click on Indexes and Databases.
- Newspapers Database - New Jersey Newspapers and Philadelphia Inquirer (NewsBank). "Complete full-text content of local and regional news, including community events, schools, politics, government policies, cultural activities, local companies, state industries, and people in the community. "

- Proquest Historical Newspapers provides the full image of articles published in the New York Times from its first issue in 1851 until two years ago.
- Find recent articles in major metropolitan newspapers in Dow Jones Interactive (soon to be Factiva) or Lexis-Nexis Academic. For items you cannot locate in full text from these sources, we own the following newspapers on microfilm on the Lower Level in Dana Library:

- Go to the Libraries homepage. Choose Research Resources and click on Indexes and Databases.
- Find scholarly periodical articles in literature, film, and media studies using Humanities Abstracts, MLA International Bibliography, or other appropriate index.
- Find scholarly periodical articles in social sciences using Sociofile, Social Work Abstracts, ERIC (education database), Public Affairs Information Service (PAIS), PsycINFO, or other appropriate index.
- Find scholarly periodical articles in American history using Humanities Abstracts, America: History and Life, or other appropriate index.
- Find articles in science and medicine using Academic Search Premier (EbscoHost), Applied Science and Technology Index, PubMed, CINAHL, or other appropriate database.
- Find life stories of famous people using the Biography and Genealogy Master Index.

- Easy access to contents of RLIN, the common database of books held by the largest research libraries in the world. (Rutgers is a member.) Suggests relevant subject headings, searches Google and IRIS automatically, even formats book citations into MLA, APA, Chicago, or Turabian style upon request.
