Internal Effects of Globalization in Mexico

Colonization had monumental effects for Latin America: a legacy of exploitation by the monarchies, England, and the United States. Latin America would have had a fighting chance of recuperating from such outside interference with the rise of nationalism. However, telecommunications transformed the world into a global system regardless of a state's readiness to join and forced Latin America to survive at a global level.

I have no doubts about Latin America's ability to adapt in order to survive, but I do question the long-term cultural effects of telecommunications. It simply reinforces the distance between the have and the have-nots. Using Mexico as a case study, the internal effects of globalization will be examined.
