November 2009
- 1 - Jazz Goes To The Movies, Pt. 2: Tad Hershorn examines the relationship between jazz and the cinema focusing on jazz composers past and present who scored for film, including Benny Carter, Quincy Jones, Oliver Nelson, etc..
- 8 - The U.S. Army Band Salutes Mary Lou Williams’ 100th. Next year is Williams’ centennial and hosts Vincent Pelote and Father Peter O’Brien play recordings made by the U.S Army Band of her compositions and arrangements.
- 15 - Graham Goes Latin: Host John Clement plays the Latin-flavored jazz of British saxophonist Kenny Graham.
- 22 - Lament For Lester: Bill Kirchner examines the music of tenor saxophonist Jay Corre, featured with Buddy Rich's 1966-67 big band. “Lament For Lester” was Corre’s composition/arrangement and main feature with the Rich band.
- 29 - John Kirby and Ben Webster: 1935-1951. Starting with Roy Eldridge and Billie Holiday and concluding with Maynard Ferguson and Benny Carter, these two great jazzmen made many classic recordings together, and few remember that Webster played in the famed Kirby Sextet in 1944. Join Loren Schoenberg for an evening with a classic bass/tenor saxophone pair.

- 10 - Jazz Meets Contemporary Pop: Bill Kirchner examines this phenomenon with recordings by Herbie Hancock, The Bad Plus, and Robert Glasper.
- 17 - The Art of Art: Tad Hershorn selects from the many hours of recordings legendary pianist Art Tatum made for jazz impresario Norman Granz, 1953-1955.
- 24 - Live from Harlem: Join host Loren Schoenberg for an hour's worth of music recorded at the Savoy Ballroom, The Apollo Theater, Minton's Playhouse, Count Basie's and other Harlem hotspots.
- 31 - Joe Marsala: Forgotten Fine Clarinet Man (1907-78), who will be heard with trumpeters ranging from Wingy Manone to Dizzy Gillespie; Buddy Rich in his recording debut, and much else of note. Hosted by Dan Morgenstern.

- 14 - Three NYC Big Bands: Bill Kirchner spotlights the music of three of the Big Apple’s finest contemporary ensembles: Darcy James Argue's Secret Society, Gary Morgan and PanAmericana, Joseph C. Phillips, Jr. and Numinous.
- 21 - Steak Face - The Genius of Sid Catlett. Being Louis Armstrong's favorite drummer was only one of Catlett's many accomplishments. Host Loren Schoenberg invites you to hear this remarkable drummer in rare recordings with Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington and others.
- 28 - Happy Birthday Svend Asmussen! The Brilliant Danish violinist turns 94 today and happily is still active. Hosted by Dan Morgenstern.
