Meeting Minutes
April 6, 2001
East Brunswick Public Library
Present: Geetali Basu, County College of Morris; Carole Bruce, Seton Hall Univ.; Mary Fetzer, Rutgers Univ.; Ann Grice, East Brunswick Public Library; Susan Kadezabek, Monmouth Univ.; Sue Lyons (Chair of the Ad-Hoc Committee), Rutgers Law Library - Newark; Shelley Myer, Rutgers Univ. student; Peggy Murtha, Rowan Univ.; Laura Saurs, Newark Public Library; Susan Sabatino (Chair of the SDIG), William Paterson Univ.; Ella Strattis, Rowan Univ; Dorothy Warner, Rider Univ.
Discussion of draft report:
Sue Lyons distributed the report and asked the members to send comments to her. She will revise certain sections.
All agreed that the report looked very impressive and thanked Sue for her work.
The group discussed the possible distribution of the report. It was suggested to send copies to the New Jersey Library Association (NJLA), the New Jersey Law Librarians Association (NJLLA), the Chief Information Officer of the Governor’s office, and also to include it as an item in the depository shipment.
Sue will ask Bob Lupp to catalog the report. She will send the draft to Bob and incorporate any changes he suggests. Shelley Myer will contribute something about cataloging electronic documents. Sue noted that there is no real consensus in this area.
It was also suggested that this report could be a means for the departments and agencies of the state government of New Jersey to coordinate their efforts in creating electronic documents. The report could inform the agencies of the importance of this issue and may lead to a centralized policy for the State.
Further discussion will take place at the June 1, 2001 meeting.
Minutes:
The minutes of the February 2, 2001 meeting were approved with minor corrections.
Approval of the minutes of the December 1, 2000 meeting were tabled until the next meeting.
New Jersey Administrative Code:
Mary Fetzer reported on the proposal to have the New Jersey Administrative Code made freely available on the Web. Pat Tumulty of NJLA and Paul Axel-Lute of NJLLA drafted the proposal with Mary. The State Bar Association has endorsed it and some members of the State Legislature are also willing to support it.
Next Meeting:
The next meeting will be held on Friday, June 1, 2001 from noon to 1:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the third floor conference room of the Rutgers Law Library - Newark. Sue Lyons will email information on parking at Rutgers-Newark.
The meeting adjourned at 12:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Susan Sabatino
