Core List
The Chair read a message from Bob Lupp regarding the core list. Bob Felt that the list could be valuable in influencing the State agencies to publish and distribute material via the depository system. It was suggested to send a copy of the list, when complete, to Bob with a cover letter indicating that DANJ, as representative of government document librarians in New Jersey, appreciate these materials distributed via the depository system of the State Library. These materials are then made available to the citizens of New Jersey at their public libraries and thus, the system serves a public benefit. The letter might also mention the two awards presented annually by the State Documents Interest Group.
The Chair will update the documents on the core list with additional bibliographic information for the next meeting.
At the last meeting it was suggested to contact Bob Lupp and ask if there is a law governing the depository process for New Jersey. Bob replied that there is a depository law, but it is not very strong. Bob also reported that the Cyberdesk of the State Library will change its Internet service provider on February 2, 1999. The site will have a new URL but it should be linked to the State Library’s homepage.
History of the State Document of the Year Award
The Chair distributed copies of a brief history of the award and the introduction of a new award for a web site in 1998. The history will be added to the DANJ homepage
The next meeting will be at Monmouth University on April 23, 1999 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Meeting adjourned at 1:10 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Susan Sabatino
