State Document of the Year and Internet Site of the Year Awards for 1998
The Chair distributed copies of two press releases written for the two awards presented at the Fall Conference. One press release, concerning the Internet Site of the Year Award, was sent to Peter Mazzei at the Office of Legislative Services. A second press release which focused on the State Document of the Year Award was faxed to David Maski at the Office of State Planning.
It was suggested that the award should be presented earlier during the conference. Similar comments were made on the conference evaluation forms. Next year we will try to arrange presentation at the start of the afternoon session. The award recipients may also attend lunch. Although they were invited this year, none of the recipients elected to attend lunch, possibly because the award presentation was scheduled at 3:00 p.m. Typically, this presentation has been part of the annual meeting, but it could be scheduled separately. It was also suggested that this is an opportunity for publicity for DANJ and for those receiving the awards. It may be a good idea to write a press release before the event and notify local newspapers. Perhaps a reporter would cover the presentation.
The Chair also asked if some brief historical information about the organization could be added to the web page. Laura Saurs volunteered to go through some of the material in the archives. This item will also be discussed at the Executive Board meeting.
Core List
The Chair distributed copies of the last revision of the core list. The revision incorporates suggestions made by SDIG members. Several titles were added in the departments listed. Members were urged to review the list one final time, and to send any additions or deletions to the Chair before the next meeting. The suggestion was made to add Library of Congress classification numbers for the titles on the list and also to add contact information for the departments listed.
It was also suggested to contact Bob Lupp and ask if there is a law governing the depository process for New Jersey. It may also be helpful to invite Bob to a SDIG meeting. The Chair will contact Bob.
The next meeting will be held at Woodbridge Public Library on February 5, 1999 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Susan Sabatino
