AGENCY SEARCH

Federal Web Locator http://www.law.vill.edu/fed-agency/fedwebloc.html

The best place to begin searching if you know the agency that produces the information that you are seeking. Includes quasi-official agencies and non-government Web sites that have federal government information. Also provides links to international government organizations.

SEARCH ENGINES

GPO Pathway Indexer http://gather.access.gpo.gov/Harvest/brokers/Pathway/query.html

Indexes selected government Internet sites. Basic search supports boolean operators and, or, not. Enclose phrases in quotation marks. Search is case sensitive, so capitalize proper names.

GovBot Database http://cobar.cs.umass.edu/ciirdemo/Govbot/

Indexes over 185, 000 federal government Web sites. Supports natural language queries. Does not support boolean operators. Use basic keyword search first and only use title or source fields to narrow a search that has produced too many hits.

Fedworld Information Network http://www.fedworld.gov/#usgovt

Supports keyword searches, no boolean operators. Indexes Web sites plus some agency files housed at NTIS.

Located at the University of California, INFOMINE is a directory of Web sites that can be searched by topic, keyword, or its own search engine.

Bibliographic records for U.S. documents 1994+. Use to Locate which depository libraries have specific titles. Provides hotlinks to titles that exist as electronic publications on the Web.
