PRIMARY DEPOSITORIES

NEW JERSEY STATE LIBRARY

The New Jersey State library in Trenton is the primary depository for state government publications.  Bob Lupp (609-292-6294 or blupp@njsl.tesc.edu) is the N.J. Government Documents Librarian.  The State Library is also a Federal Depository with extensive holdings.  The Federal Documents librarian is Beverly Railsback (609-292-6259 or railsbac@njsl.tesc.edu).

REGIONAL DEPOSITORY - FEDERAL DOCUMENTS

Newark Public Library (NPL) is the Regional Depository Library for Federal Documents.  NPL has been a depository since 1906 and was designated Regional Depository for New Jersey in 1963.  Regional Depositories receive one copy of every publication distributed through the Depository Library Program and retain these documents permanently.  They are available through Interlibrary Loan.  Laura Saurs (201-733-7812 or lsaurs@npl.org) is the Federal Documents Librarian.

OTHER LARGE COLLECTIONS

The libraries of Rutgers University, in particular the Alexander Library (Social Sciences and Humanities) in New Brunswick and the Library of Science and Medicine (LSM) in Piscataway, house large collections of federal, state international and foreign documents. While some materials are represented in IRIS, the online catalog, most are not. Therefore, a call to the Reference Desk (732-932-7526, ext. 121) for Alexander or (732-445-2895) for LSM, is usually necessary to verify holdings. The Government Resources Librarian at Alexander Library is Mary Fetzer (732-932-7129, ext. 121) and at LSM is Ellen Calhoun (732-445-1337). Rutgers' Government Information Web Page
