ORGANIZATIONS

DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATION OF NEW JERSEY (DANJ)

The purpose of the Documents Association of New Jersey is to promote use of and access to government publications in libraries in the New Jersey area. To accomplish this purpose the objectives of the Association are:

to provide a forum for discussion of problems, concerns, and the exchange of ideas by librarians working with government information;
to provide a force for initiating and supporting programs that promote access to, use of, and bibliographic control of documents;
to increase communication among documents personnel and other library personnel; and
to contribute to the continuing education and training of librarians working with government information.

In order to reach its objectives, the Documents Association engages in various activities. DANJ State, Federal, and International and Foreign Documents Interest Groups meet several times each year to discuss current issues and initiate projects in their areas of interest. Anyone interested in documents librarianship is welcome at these meetings. The meeting schedule is posted on the DANJ web page.

DANJ holds an annual conference and sponsors workshops such as GPO Access training and "Unlocking the Mysteries of U.S. Government Information." The Documents Association of New Jersey Newsletter is published three to four times a year. Annual dues are $15 for Individuals, $20 for Institutions and $5 for Students. GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS ROUND TABLE (GODORT)

GODORT, the Government Documents Round Table of the American Library Association also provides a forum for the discussion of issues related to government documents librarianship. The GODORT publication Documents to the People (DTTP), issued quarterly, is free to GODORT members and is available by subscription for $20/year.
